DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER

MAR RIVERA

(Mexico City, Mexico)

Mar Rivera  was born in Mexico City, where she earned a degree in History from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

She is the founder of the production company “La memoriosa” and is currently directing and producing her debut feature documentary “Mamá Lulú”, a project that has been selected to participate in development labs, markets, and industry meetings across Latin America, including Pitch Género at “Ventana Sur” (Buenos Aires, Argentina); the Market Application Workshop at “Conecta” (Santiago de Chile, Chile); and Regional Workshops at “Plataforma MX” (Mexico City, Mexico).

 

In 2025, she was awarded a scriptwriting grant in the Storyline category by the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE).

 

She began her training in documentary filmmaking in 2018 through workshops, courses, and seminars, where she discovered her passion for reflecting on and rethinking the uses of documentary film. She has collaborated as a writer, archival producer, and historical researcher on various visual and audiovisual projects. She has also worked as a research assistant at academic production centers such as the Instituto Mora and the Department of Historical Studies at the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

CO-PRODUCER

Tania Claudia Castillo 

(Mexico City)

Tania Claudia Castillo is a Mexican filmmaker and creative producer with a degree in Filmmaking from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City. Her work has screened at major festivals, including Sundance, Morelia, Ambulante, and the Atlanta Film Festival.

 

She focuses on socially engaged projects that explore justice, memory, and collective resistance through an intimate and ethical lens. She has worked in directing, producing, writing, and development, both independently and in collaboration with cultural institutions.

 

Tania is the producer of the upcoming feature documentary Stronger Together (Juntas Somos Fuertes), supported by the Sundance Documentary Fund, which follows women organizing against systemic violence in Mexico.

 

In addition to her creative work, she is part of networks and training initiatives for Latin American filmmakers that promote ethical and community-based storytelling. She is committed to cinema as a tool for reflection and social change, and continues developing projects that center feminist perspectives and underrepresented voices.

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY 

JESSICA VILLAMIL

AMC/ APERTURA DOP

(Mexico City, Mexico)

The reality captured by her camera, whether of landscapes or people in different parts of the world, serves as the inspiration for Jessica Villamil, AMC, a director of photography (DoP) and filmmaker with a background in Journalism and Audiovisual Production from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at UNAM, and in Cinematography from the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC), now ENAC.

 

Selected by the Berlinale Talents Campus in Guadalajara, Jessica has also ventured into directing with the short fiction films “Transversales”, “Client”, and the documentary “Kolko”. Among her recent works as a DP are “Vainilla” (WIP), a fiction feature produced by Redrum and Huasteca Casa Cinematográfica, which won the Prix Le Film Français at Cine Latino, Rencontre de Toulouse, and was selected at Impulso Morelia and WIP Latino 9 at the GuadaLAjara Film Festival, all in 2024.

 

In 2023, the documentary “Tan cerca de las nubes”, winner of the El Ojo award in the Michoacán section at the 21st edition of the Morelia Festival, premiered. It is currently nominated for an International Emmy Award in the Best Sports Documentary category. Another notable work from 2023 is “Dior Metamorphosis, Concealing and Revealing”, a feature-length documentary produced by Christian Dior and Urdimbre Audiovisual.

 

Her credits as a cinematographer also include the documentary “Flores de la llanura” (2021), winner of the Ariel Award in 2022 for Best Documentary Short; “En el murmullo del viento” (2019), “No son horas de olvidar” (2020), and “Mi piel oculta” (2022). Villamil has also directed various short fiction films and music videos for national and international artists, including “Luz de cabeza” by El David Aguilar, “Offering” by Akua, and “Minuit” by François Villevielle.

DoP ASSISTANT

ANTONIO AYALA

(Mexico City, Mexico)

Antonio Ayala is a skilled cinematographer with a strong foundation in both artistic and commercial cinematography. A graduate of the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC), now Escuela Nacional de Artes Cinematográficas (ENAC), he has contributed to numerous fiction and documentary productions, excelling in image direction and color correction.

 

Throughout his career, Antonio has served as a camera assistant for renowned cinematographers, refining his technique and professionalism. His notable works include directing photography for acclaimed short films such as "Deshidratación" (2015) and "Latúnel" (2016), as well as the documentary "Cortes" (2015), which premiered at the Morelia International Film Festival.

 

In 2018, he participated in the Ingmar Bergman Chair in Film and Theater, further exploring the art of imagery. Recently, he was the main camera operator for the television series "El Mantequilla", nominated for Best Series at the Produ Awards 2024, enhancing his reputation in the television industry.

 

Additionally, Antonio has collaborated with major brands like Apple, BBVA, Disney+, and PepsiCo, applying his artistic vision to commercial content creation.

DIRECT SOUND 

NAYURIBE MONTERO

(Costa Rica)

Nayuribe is a sound designer and production sound mixer born in Costa Rica and currently based in México. She has worked on projects for Latin America, North America , the Caribbean and Europe.

She has been working as a production sound mixer for fiction and documentary for almost a decade. Among her projects , "Aurora" stand out, a fiction feature film by the director Paz Fábrega, which premiered at Rotterdam Film Festival (2021) and won the award for best Costa Rican film at the CRFIC (2021). Also stands out the film "The moon will contain us" by Kim Torres, which had its premier at the Locarno  Film Festival. 

As a sound designer and post-producer, she has worked on feature films, series and short films, presented at festivals such as Vision du reel, San Sebastián, Biarritz, VIFF, Hot Docs, among others. 

She graduarte in sound for films from the prestigious International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. She has a master's degree in communication and graduate in audiovisual production from the University of Costa Rica. She is also a scenic artist and dance, graduated from the National University of Costa Rica and the Castella Conservatory. 

She was selected as a sound designer at Guadalajara Talents (Mexico, 2020), as a sound director at the Castello Errant International Film Residency (Italy, 2021) and received a Generic Scholarship to participate in Media Sound Hamburg (Germany, 2022)
 

EDITOR

NICOLAS ORTEGA

(Medellin, Colombia)

Nicolas Editor, filmmaker, and visual artist. Based in the city of Medellín. He has edited the feature films "The Home Was Buried in a Place We Couldn't Find", "Manita", and "The Imagined Place", as well as the fiction short films "Outside, the World Falls on My Body" and "Lunesta", all of which have won national and international grants and festival awards.

 

He is currently working on his visual piece "While We Sleep, the Trees Are on Fire" and his film

"The Three Deaths of a Sun". He is also the coordinator and creator of the editing and creation workshop

"The Heart of Images", which won a grant from the Ministry of Culture and will soon be developed in Bolivia.

MUSICAL PRODUCER

CUAUHTÉMOC RIVERA

(Mexico City, Mexico)

Cuau began his musical studies at the age of ten with drummers León Soriano and Everardo Pérez. Later, under the tutelage of percussionist Marco Antonio Ramírez, he started his training in percussion and West African culture. In 2009, he joined the C.N.E.A.R.T in Havana, Cuba, where until 2013 he studied piano, solfeggio, harmony, Cuban music history, visual arts, and Afro-Cuban percussion. He was a founding member of the "Goliat" orchestra (2015-2020).

 

He works as a conguero, arranger, composer, and music producer. He has performed in venues such as the Lunario of the National Auditorium, BlackBerry Auditorium, and Foro Landó. Since mid-2019, he has been part of the percussion team for the musical show "Myst", under the direction of pianist Chacho Gaytá.

COLOURIST

NOHELY F. BARAHONA

(Tegucigalpa, Honduras)

Nohely is a cinematographer, colorist and filmmaker with more than ten years of experience. She feels equally comfortable in advertising, documentary, short films, videoclips and any kind of creative projects.

She has a degree in Communication and Advertising specialized in Audiovisual Production. Telecinemaker specialized in photography direction by the International School of Film and Television (EICTV), in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba.

She has worked for VICE-HBO (Ultra violence in Honduras episode), NETFLIX (stories of a Generation- With the Pope Francis , "struggle" episode) and independent projects in several countries in America and Europe continents.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT 

CARLA VILLALÓN

(Mexico City, Mexico)

 Carla is an interdisciplinary historian with more than 8 years of experience in research and communication of history.


She studied History and Museography at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She has participated in the research, development and assembly of different exhibitions around Human Rights: Yoko Ono. Land of Hope (Museo Memoria y Tolerancia, 2016), Martin Luther King. A Dream of Equality (MMyT, 2016), Feminicide in Mexico (MMyT, 2017) and The Archives of '68. Memory of the Student Movement of 1968 (Museo Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, RECO-Comité 68 Collective, 2018).


She also participated as a researcher in the documentary "Ganar la Calle" (RECO-Comité 68, 2018). Currently she works as research assistant and producer of the podcast on history for the general public: “Pasado/Presente” of the Center for Historical Studies of El Colegio de México.

PRODUCTION ASSISTANT 

ALEJANDRA  QUIROZ 

 

(Tegucigalpa, Honduras)

Heading Alejandra Quiroz is a film producer, director, and podcast host from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, currently based in Los Angeles, California.

 

She is dedicated to promoting BIPOC representation in media, both in front of and behind the camera.  Alejandra obtained her B.A. in Cinema and Television Arts and Central American Studies from Cal State Northridge.

 

In 2020, she launched her podcast "Central American Voices," which explores Central American stories from around the world. In 2022, she established her production company, Our Lú Productions, with a focus on creating films, TV shows, commercials, and music videos.

POSTER DESIGN 

MANUEL E. OJEDA 

(Camaguey, Cuba)

Graduated in the specialty of Photography from the University of the Arts, Havana, 2021. Graduated in the specialty of Painting and Drawing from the Academy of Arts, Camagüey, 2008.

As a visual artist, he has held two solo exhibitions: "States of Asphyxiation" and "The Bonfire".

His most recent documentary short film, "The Weight of Stillness", had its Latin American premiere at the Censurado Film Festival in Peru and was also part of the Visions du Réel Film Market 2023. Its journey continues, as it is part of the official selection at the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival and the Moscow International Documentary Film Festival (DOKer 2023).

As a director of photography, he has worked on the feature film "The Intermittent Forest", and the documentaries "Laziness in Cuba", "The Love of Cockroaches", and "Tartessos Dune" ,among others

ILLUSTRATION 

NURI R. MELGAREJO

(Mexico City, Mexico)

Nuri is an artist with over ten years of experience in visual arts and illustration. Through her creativity, she addresses social issues with the aim of telling stories. Her work has been published by national and international publishers and media, and her illustrations have received recognition within the global literary community.
